Maryland Historical Society and Chesapeake Life Announce Partnership
The Maryland Historical Society (MHS) and Chesapeake Life magazine announce an exclusive new partnership designed to benefit both the MHS and Chesapeake Life in the coming year.
Beginning with the September/October issue, all 5,000 MHS members will receive a subscription to Chesapeake Life, a bi-monthly, upscale, lifestyle magazine published by Lund Media Ventures in Millersville, MD. "This is truly a win-win opportunity," says Chesapeake Life publisher, Eric Lund. "Our readers are concentrated primarily in Anne Arundel County and the Eastern Shore regions," he explains. "The MHS membership is state-wide, with a concentration of members in the Baltimore City and County areas. This is a wonderful opportunity for the magazine to expand and reach a broader audience."
Says Carrie Kiewitt, membership manger at the MHS, "This is a great opportunity for the Maryland Historical Society as well. The subscription is an attractive membership benefit. As part of the partnership, Chesapeake Life is providing promotional space in every issue of the magazine for the MHS. This will enable the MHS to reach new audiences with news of events, exhibitions, special programs, and more. It should really help us get the word out about all the MHS has to offer." While MHS membership has already increased almost 20% in the past year, the MHS is pursuing ways to attract new members from across Maryland. "As the state's repository of history, we truly serve a statewide audience," she notes. "Our partnership with Chesapeake Life is a way to further attract new members from across Maryland."
According to Lund, another attractive aspect of the partnership is the fact that Chesapeake Life will provide media sponsorship for a number of MHS events in the coming year. "We want to have our magazine's name attached to some of the premiere cultural events in the region," says Lund. "The Maryland Historical Society Antiques Show, their upcoming exhibition on the history of Maryland photography (Maryland in Focus: A Photographic History, 1839-2000), and their Hunt Cup celebration, are all great events with which we are pleased to be associated."
Covering history and culture in the region as well as stories on current events, home, literature, gardening, boating, and more, Chesapeake Life is the area's oldest lifestyle magazine and covers a region from Wilmington, DE to Virginia Beach, including Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Chesapeake Life is a publication of Lund Media Ventures, which also publishes Central Pennsylvania Life and Lehigh Valley Style magazines.
