'Lights on the Bay' Gears Up for Eighth Season

"Lights on the Bay," the popular holiday light show at Sandy Point State Park sponsored by the Auxiliary of Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), will run from Friday, November 22 through Sunday, January 5 from 5-10 p.m. each evening. More than 60 stationary and animated displays will illuminate a two-mile drive along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

This is the eighth season for "Lights on the Bay," a benefit for AAMC coordinated by Vickie Fretwell. Among the new features this year will be displays inspired by the North Pole and a fantasy theme. Back by popular demand are the traditional holiday scenes, regional displays featuring the USNA midshipmen tossing their hats in the air, a Colonial village modeled after Annapolis and deer programmed to leap across the drive.

Among the sponsors for the 2002-03 "Lights on the Bay" are Grauls Markets, Farmers Bank of Maryland, TeleCommunicaton Systems, Inc., Sandy Spring Bank, Comcast, The Capital, The Pennysaver, Mills Wine and Spirits, Annapolis Lighting Company, Applied Lighting Services, Chesapeake Bagel Bakery in Severna Park, Take One, Annapolis Volvo Subaru, Be Beep a Toy Store, Windows on the Bay, Annapolis Sign Works and Arundel Mills.

Admission to "Lights on the Bay" is $12 per car and $50 per bus. Discount coupons for $2 off on weekdays are available through the event sponsors and in local newspapers. Pre-sale and bulk ticket orders are available at reduced rates for quantities of 50 or more. For information, call the "Lights on the Bay" hotline at 410-295-3161.
