In the spirit of holiday giving, the National Aquarium in Baltimore offers an enticing gift: admission of $1 per person on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This dramatically reduced admission price is made possible by sponsors including GEICO Direct, Fox 45, WB 54 and X105.7/WXYV. The Aquarium has hosted Dollar Days every year since 1982 as a way of thanking the local community for its support and to ensure that everyone who wants to visit-regardless of their budget-can.
For their dollar, visitors can explore the Aquarium's 11,500 animals in award-winning, recreated habits. They'll delight at the magical blockbuster exhibit Seahorses: Beyond Imagination. Visitors may also encounter mysterious sharks, leaping dolphins, dwarf caimans, pygmy marmosets (small monkeys), poison dart frogs and the country's largest collection of stingrays. In the Atlantic Coral Reef, guests will enjoy a diver's eye view, surrounded by hundreds of brilliantly colored tropical fish.
The Aquarium's Marine Mammal Pavilion will be open both days, and visitors may stop by the amphitheatre to see the playful antics of the Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Periodically throughout the days, dolphin trainers will conduct short, interactive play and training sessions, giving the general public a rare glimpse of the dolphins' daily routines.
AquaShop, the Aquarium's gift shop, will be open for visitors in search of unique holiday gift ideas. There'll even be a table of bargains for only $1.00.
