New gallery concept targets regional photography
Lund Media Associates announced today that it will launch a new concept in the sale and marketing of regional photography, by creating a one stop shopping source for both consumer and media with the debut of Chesapeake Photo Gallery and ChesapeakePhotoGallery.com. The retail gallery will open on January 6th at 92 Maryland Avenue in Annapolis exclusively selling framed and unframed Chesapeake Bay images by a cross section of well known and up and coming area photographers. The web site will offer unframed matted images that are sold in the gallery as well as hundreds more that will be available exclusively on-line. The gallery expects to initially generate 70% of its revenue from tourists and travelers visiting Annapolis and the bay region.
In addition to both the on-line and brick and mortar retail locations, Lund Media plans to test market a separate component on the web site making available stock image rights usage for media, advertising agencies, publishers and other marketers. Later in 2003, the company intends to launch a commercial sales division making framed regional photography available on a wholesale basis to volume consumers of art including offices, developers and interior designers.
Lund Media Associates is headed by Eric B. Lund, a 20 year marketing and advertising veteran and former owner and publisher of Chesapeake Life magazine. The gallery idea developed from Lund's regional publishing experience, which afforded an opportunity to see the volume of great work being done by local photographers. "We are in essence looking to become a marketing and sales agent for area photographers, who previously had to market themselves independently."
The gallery will be the first of its kind in the Chesapeake region to focus exclusively on photography. Lund hopes a successful rollout may lead to the creation of similar retail and on-line galleries in other select regional resort and vacation areas around the U.S.
