Two Juveniles Charged In Boat Burglaries At Cape St. Claire Marina

Alert Citizens Assist In Investigation
With the help of citizens who reported suspicious activity, the Maryland Natural Resources Police this week recovered stolen property and charged two juvenile suspects alledgedly involved in a series of boat burglaries at an Anne Arundel County marina.

The two juvenile suspects, both from the Annapolis area, were each charged with five counts of second-degree burglary and one count of theft over $500 Wednesday, February 21, after a week-long investigation into the burglary of five powerboats docked off the Magothy River. The boat owners reported that electronics and assorted fishing equipment and supplies were taken sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 14 and 3 p.m. Feb. 15. The value of the stolen equipment was estimated at $2,350.

Natural Resources Police said several citizens who lived and/or frequented the Cape St. Claire marina assisted in the investigation by reporting suspicious and unusual activity.

The suspects were released into the custody of their parents. Most of the stolen property was recovered, and the investigation is continuing.
